New Castle County Government

FuturTech Consulting currently assists New Castle County Government with computer management and facilitates operations of the Information Systems Department. This includes maintaining operations in various remote sites including libraries, maintenance bases, fire and police departments, and paramedics. FuturTech also supports the County’s mission critical applications that support the day-to-day operations of all departments.

Our staff mans the Help Desk by responding to service at the main buildings and remote sites. Our desktop specialists handle hundreds of calls for service by traveling to remote sites to troubleshoot hardware problems. In addition, FuturTech has assisted the county in deploying over 500 new computers to buildings and remote sites. They are also responsible for supporting desktop computers, peripherals, and data communication processes at all sites.

Our network engineers are responsible for the daily network and computer operations. This includes deploying, upgrading and maintaining servers and server farms involving Novell, Windows NT and Windows 2000 network operating systems, Groupwise, and Citrix Metaframe. This includes installing and maintaining hubs, switches, and routers that connect the County buildings and users together through a WAN. This network provides all users access to their mission critical applications that are primarily Oracle and web-based technology.

FuturTech has been providing information services to New Castle County for over thirteen years. Michael Nardo, the president of FuturTech, serves as a technical advisor and has been instrumental in the implementation of mission critical applications and the deployment of hundreds of computers at the main office and at 20 remote offices and maintenance bases in the Department of Special Services. The original implementation included planning both WAN and LAN environments, setting up computers at each site, and staff training.

Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office

In August, 2010, FuturTech Consulting, LLC was awarded a contract with the District Attorney’s Office of the City of Philadelphia to conduct a technology needs assessment and scoping analysis to create a new performance measurement based case management system.  The goal of the District Attorney’s Office was to improve its prosecution of cases and its decision-making on systemic issues to ensure that more people are held accountable for reported crimes by evaluating its performance using a data-driven approach.  This in turn would ease the high case attrition rate in the Philadelphia criminal justice system.

FuturTech conducted a Technology Assessment and Scoping Analysis that detailed the requirements and specifications of how best to track cases to provide real time data to measure prosecutorial performance. The system allows the District Attorney’s Office to use this data for management purposes to determine how best to pinpoint problem areas leading to case attrition. The new case management system is to provide timely information to help answer questions such as why cases involving violent offenders are dismissed, and at what stage of the criminal justice process cases are dismissed.

A Systems Requirements Document was presented to the District Attorney outlining the specific problems with the existing systems, as well as the requirements, functions, features, and recommendations for a new case management system. The analysis identified 23 features for the new system such as electronic discovery; automated subpoenas, court order, and search warrants; work and process re-engineering; virtual case management; key performance indicators analysis; secure internet portal to electronically exchange documents, establish a Defendant Profile database; and analyze prosecutor and conviction adherence to sentencing guidelines. It also included recommendations for specific steps in the development of the new system and serves as a blue print for the new system.

City of Philadelphia, Mayor's Office of Information Services

FuturTech Consulting was commissioned by the Chief Information Officer of the City of Philadelphia to conduct an assessment of the Police Department’s incident reporting process. The intent of this study was to evaluate incident reporting within the City of Philadelphia Police Department, review the proposed solutions in the current RFP, and evaluate best practices used by law enforcement for capturing and reporting incident information. This study focused on procedures and processes for incident reporting including automated data collection. The study was needed to ensure that the City implemented a reliable cost effective system that supported the City’s new strategic direction.

FuturTech Consulting developed a Five-Year Information Resource and Technology Plan for the New Castle City Police Department. The plan provides recommendations to improve the department's current hardware and software systems.

The focus of this initiative is to apply technology as it relates to improving the efficiency and productivity of the New Castle City Police. Besides improving operations, these systems include the ability to provide management information to reduce cost and maximize services. In addition, this effort included a review of all existing law enforcement technology currently deployed and proposed in the State of Delaware to ensure that all new systems are compatible and can interface with these systems.
